Addressing Infrastructure & Capacity Shortfalls

Catalpa International's approach to development projects is unique. Catalpa seeks to implement, low cost, easily accessible capacity building projects that seek to address critical shortfalls within communities. Upon completion of these projects, ownership and operation will be taken up by the community, with assistance from Catalpa where necessary. These projects will be informed by a comprehensive research agenda that is integral to the development and evaluation of these projects.

Catalpa International projects often involve the application of low-cost, off the shelf technological solutions to fill the capacity gaps where infrastructure, particularly communications, is underdeveloped or not present.

Catalpa International approach is to engage in partnerships with community-based groups, in order to respond more effectively to the needs of the local community. Community participation ensures that Catalpa International projects are reflective of user demand, and have ongoing support beyond installation and set-up.
